Mates Terms of Use
Effective date: 19 October 2026.
1. Parties
Mates is provided by Ministry Design Agency Sp. z o.o., ul. Hoża 86 lok. 410, 00-682 Warszawa, Polska (KRS 0001177457, NIP 7011264249), contact: hello@ministrydesign.agency. By using Mates, you accept these terms. They supplement Apple's standard licence agreement for App Store apps (Apple Standard EULA). How we process data is described in the Privacy Policy.
2. Who may use Mates
Mates is only for people aged 18 and over. An account is created when you sign in with Apple, LinkedIn, Google or by email with a one-time code; one person, one account. Do not share your account with others and do not impersonate another person.
3. Meetups
Mates helps you find a meetup and arrange it, but does not run meetups and is not responsible for what happens at them. The host is responsible for the description, venue, terms, price and refunds for their event. Each guest decides for themselves whether to attend a meetup and complies with the law and the rules of the venue. Meetups where alcohol is served are for adults only, and the host states this in the description.
4. Community rules
You must not publish or send:
- threats, harassment, insults or discrimination;
- sexual content or nudity;
- violence, weapons, drugs or incitement to break the law;
- spam, advertising without the host's consent, or fraud;
- other people's personal data, photos or correspondence without their consent;
- content that infringes anyone's rights.
Offensive, sexual, violent or otherwise objectionable content and abusive behaviour are not tolerated in Mates. You can report a person, a meetup or a message, and you can block a person. We review reports within 24 hours, remove such content and block its authors; we may also restrict or delete an account and will inform you of our decision. If three people report a meetup or a profile, its cover or photo is hidden automatically until a moderator decides. You can appeal a decision by writing to hello@ministrydesign.agency. We review the complaint and inform you of the decision within 14 days.
5. Your content
You retain the rights to your photos, texts, voice messages and videos. You permit us to store this content and show it to Mates users to the extent necessary for the service to operate, until it is deleted. Publish only content you have the rights to.
6. Paid features
Purchases are processed by Apple; the price is shown in the Apple window before you confirm.
- Mates Premium is an auto-renewable subscription. Period: 1 month. Price in Poland: 39.99 PLN per month; in other countries, the App Store shows the price in the local currency. The exact price in your currency is shown in the Apple window before purchase. Payment is charged to your Apple Account upon confirmation. The subscription renews automatically unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; your account is charged for the new period within 24 hours before it begins. You can manage and cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings. Deleting the app or your Mates account does not cancel the subscription. If a free trial is offered, any unused portion of it is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
- Mates are an in-app currency for gifts. They are bought in packs of 250, 500, 1,000 and 2,500 Mates as an Apple consumable purchase and are spent when you send gifts. They are not money, cannot be exchanged back for money and cannot be transferred between accounts. When an account is deleted, any unused Mates are forfeited.
- Gifts are bought with Mates. A paid gift comes in a randomly selected style variant; the odds of each variant are shown before purchase. A gift cannot be returned once it has been sent.
Refunds for purchases are decided by Apple under its own rules: reportaproblem.apple.com. These terms do not limit your statutory consumer rights under the law of your country of residence.
7. Termination
You may delete your account in the app at any time. We may restrict or delete an account in the event of a breach of these terms or of the law, stating the reason unless the law prohibits us from doing so.
8. Liability
Mates is provided "as is". We strive to keep the service running without interruption, but we do not guarantee this. We are not liable for the actions of users and hosts at meetups or outside Mates, except where the law does not permit such liability to be excluded. Nothing in these terms limits liability for intentional harm or for anything that cannot be limited by law.
9. Changes and governing law
We may change these terms and will notify you in advance in the app of any material changes. These terms are governed by the law of Poland; this does not deprive you of the protection afforded to you by the law of your country of residence. Disputes with consumers are resolved by the court having jurisdiction as determined by law. Questions: hello@ministrydesign.agency.
